Upon leaving Toronto's Ryerson Theatre School in 1984 (awarded Faculty-Staff Scholarship for leadership/academic excellence) Paul spent eight years working as an actor in theatres across North America, portraying characters big and small in a variety of genres (modern drama, Shakespeare, Chekhov, farce, musical theatre), and honing his array of special skills, which include musician, songwriter, puppeteer, and fight choreographer.

For the past ten years Paul has concentrated on making music, primarily as guitarist/singer (with keyboardist/singer Mark Kersey) in Ontario's favorite kids' band, The Stylamanders, for which Paul has written most of the current repertoire. He has also written, directed, composed for, and performed in various corporate entertainment events, and has recently completed a play script chronicling the life of Gypsy jazz guitarist, Django Reinhardt.

Other recent projects include co-composing the music (with Mark Kersey) for Roger Rudick's madcap film, The Ketchup King, choreographing the Battle of Agincourt as a hockey game gone awry for Vivid Theatre's Henry V on Ice, and teaching the Welsh dialect to the cast of Factory Theatre's production of Fighting Words.
In his latest play script That Boy, Paul dovetails realistic drama and musical performance in the story of Dave and Rik, two hapless guitarist/composers vying for the heart (and vocal chords) of an up-and-coming pop/rock diva who is quite capable of writing her own songs. Winner of the Toronto Fringe Festival's 'Best Play of 2003' award, That Boy explores the struggle to be good when things are going badly amidst a minefield of sexual jealously, professional envy, and gender politics.
